Saturday, June 7th, 2008 marks the opening of Russia's Grizzly Coast, a new Minnesota Zoo exhibit featuring three grizzly bears (Sadie, Haines, and Kenai), four sea otters (Capers, Jasper, Rocky, and Kachemak), three Amur leopards (Katya, Polina, and Okha), and ten wild boars (a couple with their eight kids).
According to the Zoo's website, "the Russian Far East is one of the last great wilderness areas on
earth, home to an amazing diversity of animals, including some of the
world's largest predators. But the environment and animals of this area
are in danger. The Minnesota Zoo—and the new Russia’s Grizzly Coast exhibit—will play an important role in educating and promoting conservation of this little-known but extraordinary place."
