Nick Lowe

He is, as the title of one of his U.K. albums stated it, the Jesus of Cool. He wrote the wedding-dance staple “I Knew the Bride,” as well as the classic howl against injustice “(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding,” definitively recorded by his buddy Elvis Costello. So even though Lowe isn’t touring behind a new album (his most recent was 2001’s The Convincer) we’re happy to welcome this icon of the New Wave anytime he wants to blow through town. He’ll be doing a solo acoustic set, so count on for some intimate, pub-rocking British charm. 318 1st Ave. N., Minneapolis; 612-338-8100; www.finelinemusic.com
